Four years after their near-death experience, the Golden Globes will be presented Sunday in Beverly Hills, a Lazarus-like revival attracting a star-studded crowd and national TV audience. Yet while A-listers dutifully turn out to mark the awards season’s unofficial kickoff, the group behind the event for more than 80 years—those foreign journalists winners thanked and hosts gently lampooned—are no longer invited to the trademarked “Hollywood’s Party of the Year.”

For the second consecutive year, many legacy members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, an entity absorbed and dissolved by the Globes’ new stewards at Penske Eldridge Media, will vote for winners but won’t be at the ceremony. And while the awards remain a glitzy showcase for movies and television, according to people familiar with the matter, the situation behind the scenes…

Sizing Up “His & Hers”: (Mild spoiler ahead): Netflix churns out short-order thrillers with such regularity that its latest, “His & Hers,” could easily be dismissed as another generic murder mystery, relying squarely on its Marvel-pedigreed leads, Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal. At least, that’s true until the end, which does deliver a genuinely unexpected, flashback-filled twist that’s surprising enough to almost justify taking the whole six-episode trip just to get there.

Of course, surviving that long requires patiently overlooking a whole lot of implausibility and semi-confusing connections, with Thompson playing Anna, a TV news reporter/anchor who returns to her small Georgia home town. Once there, she immediately dives into reporting on a sensational murder…
