Earlier this year, as Paramount worked to clear the various legal hurdles standing in the way of its monster $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, the company's top lawyer, Makan Delrahim, was also quietly working on another negotiation, Status has learned. That negotiation had nothing to do with antitrust law, but another matter entirely: the acquisition of a documentary involving the late Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Prior to his death earlier this year, Graham was the subject of documentary filmmaker Alex Holder's latest project, with the senator granting him rare and expansive behind-the-scenes access to his life. Indeed, Holder captured hundreds of hours of footage showing Graham in a variety of settings, including conducting important business and speaking on the phone with world leaders and other prominent figures.
